We knew about avocado ice cream, but we were completely unprepared for this ingenious creation. Rosa Mexicano, the international Mexican restaurant chain, is celebrating its annual ice cream festival with the addition of a unique new item: guacamole ice cream sundaes. Available during the whole month of August, the tempting dessert inspired by everyone’s favorite Mexican dip features avocado ice cream served in a frozen molcajete (traditional stone mortar). It’s garnished with raspberries, white chocolate shavings, mint, piloncillo-chocolate sauce, and cinnamon-sugar tortilla chips.

Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) is a condition that affects the gastrointestinal tract’s usual functioning. Eleven percent of the adult population in America suffers from IBS, whose side effects include flatulence, abdominal pain, cramps, and stomach rumbling. However, a new study has found an unlikely aid in the battle against this condition: low-carb rye bread. The lead author of the study noted that “Just like the rest of the population, IBS patients tend to have a lower than recommended intake of fiber.” The study’s main takeaway was that even by just lowering the simple carbohydrates in bread, patients still saw a reduction in IBS symptoms.WE NEED TO EXPLAIN THIS BETTER. Some products are recalled for potential salmonella or listeria risk. Others are pulled off shelves for mislabeling. In one of the most bizarre product recalls in recent memory, a German food company has removed its packets of honey peanuts from shelves at UK grocers — for containing peanuts. In what seems like an insult to the intelligence of British shoppers, the brand is withdrawing Alesto Honey Peanuts because its packaging is said not to sufficiently warn customers that the product does in fact contain the allergen in question. The company is also pulling its Milbona Fruit Yogurt from the shelves — because it contains a dairy product.
