The Culinary Academy of Las Vegas is the largest provider of training for entry-level in the Las Vegas hospitality industry. This cocktail is a refreshing and unique drink, making it one of the best gin cocktails out there.

  • 1/2 Ounce fresh squeezed lemon juice

Rosemary Basil Gin Fizz

This gin fizz is flavored with basil and rosemary to create a fresh, summertime cocktail! Complete with bubbles, it’s such a refreshing drink!

Whatever happened to the classy cocktail hour: a time to relax after a long day, sipping and enjoying a fresh drink? Well, it&rsquos high time we bring that wonderful hour of bygone eras back don&rsquot you think?! Recently, I&rsquove started cultivating (and enjoying) some drink creations of my own. With spring on the horizon, the itch for refreshing drinks has begun. For me, it&rsquos high past time to rid my palate of the mundane and boring and liven it up with this rosemary basil gin fizz.

At my farm, I&rsquom continually looking for ways to use herbs in different ways around the kitchen. In my honest opinion (although I may be slightly biased since I love my garden), herbs are simply too underutilized in all aspects of life. Complete with resilient fresh flavors, herbs are perfect for the infusion in&hellipwell, anything! Thankfully, this spring I&rsquove imagined this gin fizz that uses a smattering of those terrific herbs!

Nothing evokes spring like a high-quality gin. By itself, gin has an almost earthy, but oh-so-crisp flavor. I love Henrick&rsquos Gin for its quality and superior taste. A better quality liquor really does make a difference when mixing a great cocktail.

And remember, it&rsquos not necessary to use alcohol in this drink. If you prefer a nonalcoholic thirst-quencher, simply add a touch more club soda. The &ldquokick&rdquo won&rsquot be there, but it will be just as satisfying!

This gin fizz is truly a refreshing lemonade of sorts. The herbs provide a special finish that may seem daunting to try. But trust me: once you venture out on this limb, you&rsquoll want to make this drink again and again.

Rosemary Gin Fizz

With fall comes cooler evenings and earlier sunsets, but by no means should you pack up your refreshing drinks and hunker down for the winter already. There will be plenty of time for hot toddies, but fall happy hours should still be outdoors as often as they can. Gin and tonics, or G&Ts as they’re often called, are indeed the perfect summer sip, and with a few tweaks can easily become the perfect fall cocktail.

Rosemary is a hearty herb that, in certain parts of the country, can be found all year round. As cilantro and mint go to seed and parsley and basil are harvested for pesto and chimichurri, bright green sprigs of rosemary can still be found to snip for a refreshing and herbaceous cocktail. Pour up one of these fizzy gin drinks for a lovely fall happy hour tonight.


Pear Ginger Fizz and A Cocktail Roundup

Happy almost New Year! I’m up in Wisconsin on our annual ski trip so I’ll be celebrating the New Year with a long ski, a potluck dinner, bingo, catch phrase, something bubbly, and an early night. In the spirit of celebration I have the recipe for this Pear Ginger Fizz and variety of cocktail and mocktail recipes from around the web for you to enjoy.

1 cup ginger lemonade (I like this one)

Core the pear and place it in a high speed blender with the ginger lemonade. Purée until completely smooth then strain through a fine mesh seive. Divide between two glasses and top with kombucha, ice and a sprig if rosemary.


Everyone likes a good party drink, and this twist on the original gin fizz is slightly unconventional without landing anyone in unfamiliar territory. In fact, experience leads me to predict you should prepare for compliments. I like this for the blast of lemon, lime, and rosemary, which refreshes without too much sweetness, and is followed by a revelation of aromatic gin. I make the simple syrup ahead of time and steep the rosemary to ensure a healthy transfer of flavor. The syrup’s main purpose is to level the tartness of the lemon-lime juice. I serve this in a rocks glass with ice and add a sprig of freshly cut rosemary from my garden.

1. Combine the gin, simple syrup, lemon juice, and lime juice in a cocktail shaker filled with ice.

2. Cover with the lid, and shake vigorously until thoroughly chilled, about 30 seconds.

3. Strain into a rocks glass filled with ice.

4. Top with the seltzer water, and garnish with the rosemary sprig and lemon slice.


Recipe Summary

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • ⅓ cup packed fresh rosemary leaves
  • ⅓ cup coarsely chopped fresh ginger
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup gin
  • 1 cup rosemary-ginger simple syrup
  • 1 cup sparkling water
  • ½ cup fresh lime juice
  • 10 ice cubes

Bring all syrup ingredients to a boil in a small saucepan over medium heat. Boil, stirring until sugar has dissolve, about 1 minute. Remove from heat. Let stand, covered, 1 hour at room temperature.

Strain through a fine-mesh sieve, pushing down on solids to extract as much liquid as possible. Refrigerate until ready to use.

Combine gin, 1 cup of the rosemary-ginger simple syrup, sparkling water, and lime juice in a cocktail shaker. Add ice cubes and shake until well-chilled. Strain 3/4 cup each into 8 glasses and serve.


ROSEMARY & GINGER FIZZ

It’s no secret that I love a good tipple. Whether it be a random concoction of whatever you can find or something a little more put together with a couple of garnishes. And I love creating my own little concoctions. So, with the cooler evenings creeping in I thought I’d share this easy peasy rosemary and ginger cocktail that’s going to keep you warm on the inside out. It’s perfect for a cosy Sunday evening pre roast dinner or around a fire pit with friends.

If you like ginger or spices I’d highly recommend Kings Ginger (this was gifted to me previously but not for the intention of this blog post – all opinions are my own). It’s a ginger liqueur and has a really nice spicey taste with a hint of lemon. It’s perfect for the autumn winter months, however I use in drink throughout the year as it’s so refreshing. You could even add it to lattes or hot chocolates in the Winter to make a boozy pick-me-up! Now, onto the recipe…

ROSEMARY & GINGER COCKTAIL

Ingredients
  • 45ml ginger liqueur (alternatively you could use a mix of gin and ginger syrup instead)
  • 2 drops bitters
  • 25ml lime juice
  • 25ml rosemary simple syrup
  • cloudy lemonade to fill (you could also use sparkling water, tonic water or ginger beer instead)
Method

It’s simple! Just pop some ice into the glass and then put all the liquids except the cloudy lemonade or fizz of choice into a shaker and shake it up. Then just strain into the glass, add the cloudy lemonade to fill and garnish with a slice of orange or lemon and a bit of rosemary and voila. These measurements are for one drink, so simply double to make two and so on.

Rosemary Gin Fizz

I hope you are all feeling warm, merry and bright. I feel a bit sacrilegious sharing a cocktail recipe the day before Christmas (must be my Protestant upbringing) but I owe you a holiday cocktail. If family time is getting the best of you, run to the store for some gin, club soda, lemon and fresh rosemary and relax with one of these delightful and refreshing drinks. I made this drink for the first time yesterday and it truly became an instant favorite.

I was going to talk about my feelings about Christmas and the holiday season today—about growing up a Christmas baby and feeling overwhelmed with love and loss this time of year. But I won’t. I don’t want to interrupt your family time and I need to hurry home to my own family. This year, I’m so grateful that we are healthy and well and I’m looking forward to spending time with loved ones over the next couple of days. Cheers to that!

Hanson Cucumber Martini
1 1/2 oz Hanson Organic Cucumber Vodka
Muddled Cucumber
½ oz Cucumber Juice
½ oz Simple Syrup
¾ oz Lemon Juice
Garnish with Cucumber

Muddle the Cucumber and Simple Syrup in a shaker. Add the remaining ingredients, shake vigorously and pour into a chilled Martini Glass. Garnish with Cucumber.

Girl and the Fig – Sonoma – Jonathan Ruppert

Ginger Rosemary Smash
1 ½ oz Hanson Organic Ginger Vodka
¾ oz Ginger Simple Syrup
½ oz Fresh Squeezed Lime
Splash of Club Soda
2 Rosemary Sprigs

Combine all ingredients in a cocktail tin with ice, shake vigorously and strain into ice in a rocks glass. Top with Club Soda. Garnish with a Rosemary Spring and Lime slices.
For the Ginger Simple Syrup: With a 10 inch piece of ginger, peel and cut into small slices. In a saucepan heat up 1 part of your Sugar & 1 part Water and Ginger until just combined. Remove from heat and let steep for 30 min. Pour syrup through a fine sieve.

Tosca Café – San Francisco – Isaac Shumway

Shake all ingredients in a cocktail shaker very hard. Add Soda and Double Strain over fresh ice in a Collins Glass. Add a cucumber ribbon, Basil and mint Bouquet for Garnish.
