Taco Bell Adds Grilled Breakfast Burritos to Morning Menu
Taco Bell has announced a new addition to its breakfast lineup: the Grilled Breakfast Burrito.
Joining Taco Bell’s morning menu, the new breakfast burritos will be available in Sausage, Bacon, or Fiesta Potato.
Each burrito comes with scrambled eggs and is topped with a warm nacho cheese sauce, all wrapped in a grilled tortilla. As with the rest of Taco Bell’s breakfast menu, the new burritos will be available from 7 a.m. (or earlier, depending on your location), until 11 a.m.
The Grilled Breakfast Burrito joins Taco Bell’s new Grande Scrambler served with breakfast potatoes, pico de gallo, sour cream, Cheddar cheese and the customer’s choice of bacon sausage or steak.
To celebrate the newest breakfast items, Taco Bell has also announced the return of Ronald McDonald (or Ronalds, if you prefer), from the playfully combative breakfast spots released earlier in 2014.

Taco Bell Adds Grilled Breakfast Burritos to Morning Menu - Recipes
I ended up trying all three for $1.29 a piece.
These are basically Taco Bell's existing (but renamed) Cheesy Burrito except they're grilled and come with nacho cheese rather than cheddar. Since you can ask them to grill your Cheesy Burrito, it really comes down to whether you prefer nacho cheese or cheddar with your breakfast staples.
I tried the sausage first. The sausage comes in crumbles like you find at some pizza chains. It had a decent flavor with slight peppery-ness to it.

The Fiesta potatoes offer up a nice, seasoned profile that goes well with the cheese. It also gives you something different from the other two with the pico de gallo, which was pretty tangy. It might be too tangy in some bites though. It's also the biggest of three burritos.
Overall, Taco Bell's Grilled Breakfast Burritos were just okay. I mentioned earlier that it really comes down to whether your prefer nacho cheese or cheddar with your sausage/bacon/potatoes and, in general, I'd rather have cheddar cheese.

Taco Bell Spices up Morning Menu With New Breakfast Burritos
Debuting its breakfast concept only months ago, Taco Bell is already looking to revamp its wildly successful breakfast menu. Taco Bell already has plans to test a new "Power Breakfast" menu in August with lower calorie options, such as Greek yogurt, but the fast food chain is adding two new burritos to their morning line up.
The new Grilled Breakfast Burrito is made up of scrambled eggs smothered in nacho cheese sauce wrapped and grilled in a flour tortilla with your choice of sausage, bacon, or, for the vegetarian Taco Bell lovers, Fiesta potatoes with pico de gallo.
The Grande Breakfast Burrito is more of a traditional breakfast burrito featuring your choice of bacon, sausage, or steak, pico de gallo, sour cream, Fiesta potatoes, and cheddar cheese.
If the Steak and Egg Burrito was your breakfast of choice just FYI, it's undergone a name change and is now known as the Cheesy Burrito with new options including sausage, potatoes, and bacon options.

And while the chain is better known for its chalupas and Doritos tacos, you can get your fix in a more healthy way. &ldquoTaco Bell has a surprising number of better options,&rdquo says Lindsey Janeiro, R.D.N. &ldquoThey have an in-house registered dietitian who oversees the whole menu and works to remove additives and preservatives, artificial flavors and colors, high-fructose corn syrup, partially hydrogenated oil, and reducing sodium across the menu.&rdquo The more you know!

Anita Mirchandani, registered dietitian and spokesperson for the New York State Dietetic Association, says the grilled breakfast burrito is a solid choice. &ldquoEggs make it a good lean protein option. Since it&rsquos lower in calories, you could pair it with fruit or another side,&rdquo she says.

Cooper adds, &ldquoAsk for additional veggies like romaine and tomatoes to give your tacos a nutritional boost without adding a lot of additional calories.&rdquo

I recently made the Egg Burritos recipe by Audra Niederman of Aberdeen, South Dakota. It’s inspired by Taco Bell’s Grilled Breakfast Burrito. If you want to begin your day with a hot, but very simple breakfast, try this one. You can either make just one or a couple, or prepare the full recipe and freeze leftovers for hectic mornings. “Then just zap one in the microwave before you leave the house,” suggests Niederman. To me, that beats waiting in the drive-through line!
The full recipe makes 10 burritos and calls for 12 chopped bacon strips, a dozen large eggs, 1/2 tsp. salt, 1/4 tsp. pepper, 10 warmed 8-inch flour tortillas, 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese and four thinly sliced green onions.
My husband and I tried the burritos twice. The first time, we followed the recipe very closely by reheating two slices of precooked bacon and scrambling four eggs. We divided the scrambled eggs between the two tortillas and topped them with crumbled bacon and cheese before rolling them into burritos. The second time, we customized it a bit to our tastes, which, when you have the time, makes cooking at home so much better than takeout! We toasted our tortillas over the gas flame — be very careful and watch each side closely if you do this. We didn’t have bacon on hand, but instead used some leftover jarred salsa, which really punched up the flavor!

Taco Bell introduces Grilled Breakfast Burritos
Taco Bell rolled out new Grilled Breakfast Burritos Thursday, adding to its breakfast menu lineup.
The quick-service chain introduced three varieties of the burritos:
• Bacon: Scrambled eggs and bacon topped with warm nacho cheese sauce, wrapped in a tortilla and grilled
• Sausage: Eggs and a sausage patty wrapped in a tortilla and grilled, served with a side of syrup, similar to the chain’s Waffle Taco
• Fiesta Potato: Scrambled eggs and breakfast potatoes with pico de gallo and nacho cheese sauce, wrapped in a tortilla and grilled
The items are priced at a recommended $1.29 and are available during breakfast hours, from 7 a.m. or earlier to 11 a.m.
The chain also introduced two other burritos. The Grande Scrambler features scrambled eggs, seasoned potatoes, pico de gallo, sour cream, Cheddar cheese and a choice of bacon, sausage or steak. The Cheesy Burrito includes scrambled eggs, extra cheese, bacon, sausage, steak or Fiesta Potatoes. The items are priced between $1.69 to $3.29, depending on the protein.
To promote the menu expansion, Taco Bell is bringing back another edition in its series of commercials featuring men named Ronald McDonald, yet another jab at quick-service competitor and morning daypart leader McDonald’s.
In the commercial, men from around the country named Ronald McDonald taste the Grilled Breakfast Burritos and declare them to be good.
When an off-screen interviewer asks whether they would buy a burrito from a burger chain, one of the Ronalds responds, “You don’t go to a sushi bar and order spaghetti.”
The ad will air nationally starting July 20.
Since the national launch of breakfast in March, Taco Bell has promised to continue building its morning menu.
Last week, the chain said it is testing new Power breakfast options that emphasize protein, including a Steak Burrito or Bowl with extra meat and vanilla Greek yogurt with granola.
