Peacock eyes

For the dough: In a bowl sift the flour, add the mayonnaise (mix the yeast with 1 lgt sugar, a little milk and 1 lg flour and leave to rise for 10 minutes). Add lard or soft margarine at room temperature, egg yolks, warm milk and knead for about 10 minutes. Leave the dough to rise for 30 minutes, then divide it into 3 parts.

For the filling : mix the egg whites with a pinch of salt, add the powdered sugar gradually, and finally the ground walnuts. Divide the filling into 3 bowls, place the cherries in 3 bowls.

We spread each sheet the length of the tray in which we will place it, we grease it with jam. On the long sides of the sheet we place the sweet cherries and roll both ends inwards, leaving a space for the walnut filling.

Place the roll without filling in the tray that I divided into 3 with the help of baking paper. Do the same with the other 2 sheets. After placing the cherry sheets in the baking tray, put the filling.

Whoever wants can spread all 3 rolls on top with beaten egg. Leave in the oven for 40 minutes, until golden brown

After removing them from the oven, cover the tray with a clean towel, then put a bag on top and a towel again. We leave them like this until they cool down, that is, for a few hours. I left them from evening until morning. After removing them from the towels, sprinkle the 3 rolls with powdered sugar and we can cut.

Super good, after so many cream cakes ...;)

The way Mona Lisa smiles

The mystery of the painting with Mona Lisa. The appearance and disappearance of Mona Lisa's smile is indeed an attribute of the viewer's vision. This mystery is explained using the art technique developed by Da Vinci. In this technique, the painting is left a little unclear, thus leaving its interpretation to the choice of the spectator.

The biggest mystery is Mona Lisa's secret code. Members of the Italian National Cultural Heritage Committee have revealed that letters and numbers can be seen by magnifying the high-resolution images of Mona Lisa's eyes.

"The symbols are not visible to the naked eye. But with a magnifying glass they can be clearly seen, "said Silvano Vinceti, chairman of the committee.

In the right eye seem to be the letters LV. These could represent the name of the artist, Leonardo Da Vinci, while in the left eye there are also symbols.

"It is very difficult to distinguish them clearly. But, they appear to be the letters CE or they could be the letter B. You have to remember that the image is almost 500 years old, so it is not as clear as when it was first painted. While in the arch of the bridge in the background you can see the number 72, or it could be an L and the number 2 ", says Silvano Vinceti.

Cherry cake and meringue with walnut Cat's eyes

Cherry cake and meringue with walnut Cat's eyes. Cake recipe with tender dough, crispy meringue with nuts or almonds and fresh cherries, frozen or sour cherries. The recipe for "glasses cake" or "peacock eyes" with cherries and walnuts.

The cake with cherries and meringue and walnuts or almonds is a very fine one called "glasses", "peacock eyes" and "cat eyes". A tender dough and a fine meringue filling with walnuts or almonds. I love the beginning of summer. Abundant of seasonal fruits that are more or less the best. I also love fruit cakes and as the cherries also appeared, I started making a cake that caught my eye for some time, from a Hungarian blog (source here).

I decided to combine the cherries with some almonds (I didn't have walnuts in the house), because I really like the combination and I think they fit and make a good team. In winter you can use frozen or extracted cherries from cherry (Without seed).

From the quantities below result 2 large strips of cake with cherries and meringue with walnuts that fit in a 33 x 42 cm tray.

The Da Vinci Code

Numbers and letters are not visible to the human eye, but must be viewed under a microscope. Leonardo Da Vinci's Renaissance masterpiece, 500 years old, has long been full of mystery and even today the true identity of the woman with the alluring smile is still a mystery.

The painting also appeared in the blockbuster Dan Brown & # 8211 The Da Vinci Code, which was turned into a 2006 film starring Tom Hanks. His character interprets secret messages hidden in other works of Mona Lisa and Da Vinci, including the Last Supper.

Mr. Vinceti, who traveled to Paris to examine the painting in the Louvre Gallery, where it is on display, explained that in the true Dan Brown style, emphasis was placed on mystery after his colleague, committee member Luigi Borgia, discovered a book. with mold in an antique shop.

The 50-year-old volume describes how Mona Lisa's eyes are full of various signs and symbols and added: “We are just at the beginning of this investigation. We hope to be able to delve into this mystery. We want to reveal more details as soon as possible.

It is remarkable that no one has noticed these symbols before. The preliminary surveys we conducted prove that they are not a mistake and that they were put there by the artist ”.

Researchers want to unearth Da Vinci's remains

Mr Vinceti is part of the group asking the French authorities for permission to dig up Da Vinci's remains. The artist's grave is at Amboise Castle in the Loire Valley.

They want to see if the artist's skull is there, so they can try to recreate his face and determine if the Mona Lisa is a self-portrait of the artist, as many people think.

Some historians believe that Da Vinci was gay and that his love for riddles led him to paint as a woman. Another theory is that the Mona Lisa is Lisa Gheradini, the wife of the merchant from Florence. Others suspect that she may even be the artist's mother.

"Da Vinci put a special emphasis on the Mona Lisa and we know that in the last years of his life he took painting with him everywhere. He wanted to wear it everywhere for safety. We also know that Da Vinci was very esoteric and used symbols in his work to convey messages and we examined other paintings and found no similar numbers or letters.

The painters I spoke to also said that it is unlikely that they were put there by mistake. So we're confident it's a message from Da Vinci. The symbols were specifically introduced into his eyes. What adds to the intrigue is that they are in the pupils, the darkest part of the eyes.

1 kg of flour
340 gr frame (lard 300 gr)
60 gr yeast
300 ml milk
6 egg yolks

6 egg whites
200 gr powdered sugar
400 gr ground walnut (or ground poppy)

We also need clear cherries (from compote) and apricot jam for to grease the sheets.

Dissolve the yeast in warm milk. Mix the flour well with the frame and add the 6 yolks, the milk and knead it until well blended. The shell thus obtained is divided into 6 equal parts, and left for 1/2 hour at rest (during this time the crust grows) in a warm place.
After we have left them to rest, we spread each crust to the size of the tray in which we bake it, we grease them with apricot jam, and on the two edges we place the cleared cherries and let them squeeze the juice beforehand, as often as possible. Roll the ends where we put the cherries in the middle, leaving a space of about a finger between them, here we will put the filling.
Beat the 6 egg whites with 200 g of powdered sugar, add the 400 gr of ground walnuts and mix. we will get a slightly more solid filling. Take from the composition thus obtained, make rolls and put in the remaining opening from the sheets. Place in a tray in which we put waxed paper or aluminum foil and bake on low heat (the oven will be preheated). Then take it out of the oven, cover it with a towel, put a bag on top and then a towel again and leave it to cool.
It can also be sprinkled with powdered sugar.

PS. The hull obtained initially can be divided into 12 pieces, but then the twists come out smaller and we do not stretch them to the size of the tray.

Fruit peacock, playing with colors

Today we will go experiment with colors and flavors, and for this we will prepare a very funny peacock.

We can make this recipe with the little ones in the house, so that they can prepare their own desserts.

Preparation

We'll start taking the Moorish skewer sticks and we will go and put a grape of every color until the end of the flag. So we will leave 8 flags ready to be the feathers of our peacock.

Then we will put the red or green apple on a tray, as you prefer, in this case we took a red one to give our peacock a little color and I began to nail each of the flags one by one in feather mode.

Finally, we will put our peacock beak in the shape of a white grape and, if we want to make it more fun, we will put some eye stickers.
